Artist Statement
I remember as a young girl not having access to doll clothes, my aunt taught me how to knit and I instantly started making a wardrobe for my dolls. This skill stayed with me through my life and upon retirement I found myself pulled back to knitting as a pastime. I am heavily inspired by complicated patterns, transforming them into my own creations and love to see that pile of yarn turn into something warm and beautiful. The feel of the wool in my hands transports me into a trance-like state creating master cable knit one-of-a-kind patterns. I knit for the sheer joy of it and love creating special one-off creations for my family and friends.
Biography
As a young girl playing with dolls, my aunt taught me how to knit. Not having access to doll clothes like children today I started knitting clothes for my dolls.
When I retired I found a pattern that fascinated me and I decided to start knitting again. I really enjoy working with complicated patterns and love to see a pile of yarn turn into something warm and beautiful.
I live in Conception Bay South, Newfoundland and like to keep busy with outdoor activities. Not being one to sit still, I love to knit at night to keep my hands and mind busy. I love the feel of the wool and enjoy giving the finished products to my friends and family. I believe that there is an art to picking a pattern that suits each person.
